The 2026 Citizen’s Police Academy will begin April 22nd and continue through June 17th 2026. Classes are scheduled Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm-10:00pm each week. Class size is limited to 12 students, so please complete the application on our website or by coming to the Camillus Police Department.
The deadline for applications is March 31st, 2026.
The class will emphasize hands-on subject matter, the instructions will present topics including, but not limited to:
- Department History
- Justice System Overview
- Use of Force, Self Defense, and Personal Safety
- Traffic Safety, Crash Investigation, Vehicle and Traffic Stops
- Mental Health, Crisis Negotiations, and Investigations
- Crime Scene Investigations and Drone Program
- Firearms
- Reality Based Training
- Domestic Violence
- Drug Recognition, Substance Abuse, and Narcan Training
- Criminal Investigation
