Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Request Form

As of December 2025, F.O.I.L. requests are now processed through the Camillus Police Department. Certain records generated by the Camillus Police Department, like crash or incident reports, are available to certain individuals as defined by law.  Other records are available to the public by filing a FOIL request.  Please note that there is usually a nominal fee for reports.

How To File a F.O.I.L. Request:
F.O.I.L. requests involving police records, are processed by Camillus Police Department and can be submitted directly to the police department using the designated F.O.I.L. request form, in person, through US mail, or via e-mail, policefoilrequests@townofcamillus.com.

What is the Freedom of Information Law (F.O.I.L.)?:
The Freedom of Information Law (“F.O.I.L.”), Article 6 (Sections 84-90) of the NYS Public Officers Law, provides the public right to access to records maintained by government agencies with certain exceptions.

“Record” means any information kept, held, filed, produced or reproduced by, with, or for this agency, in any physical form whatsoever including, but not limited to, reports, statements, examinations, memoranda, opinions, folders, files, books, manuals, pamphlets, forms, papers, designs, drawings, maps, photos, letters, microfilms, computer tapes or disks, rules, regulations or codes.
